Job Summary:
Individual is responsible for the fabrication of quality parts in within a set time schedule using blueprints, sketches and verbal instruction to set up and run parts that meet customers expectations. Individual will do this using Lathes, Mills and conventional equipment and also has the ability to measure his work to insure it is within set tolerances. Individual should be able to make necessary adjustments to ensure proper results. Individual should have good mechanical aptitude with a working knowledge of machining practices and give concentrated attention to each job, so as not to cause tool damage and / or mistakes to jobs.
Summary of Essential Job Duties:
Be in regular attendance
Be to work on time (at your machine working by start time)
Call in before your shift starts if you’re going to be late
Schedule vacation days 24 hours in advance
To work steadily, 8 hours a day
Maintain good customer / coworker relations
Treat others with respect, interfacing with them in a courteous manner
Communicate effectively, so no details of a job are missed
Be willing to work short notice overtime in order to meet customer needs
Be sensitive to changing priority needs and switch jobs to meet customer needs
Keep a neat work area / follow established safety practices
Properly care for equipment
Daily clean off the machines used, brushing them off and wiping them down
Daily sweep up surrounding work area (mop as necessary)
Always wear safety glasses, use guards and other PPE when needed
Reads and draws prints and sketches
Accurately interprets all prints, sketches recognizing symbols and tolerances
Can create prints and sketches for others in the shop to work from
Has the math skills to interpret all prints
Abide by company rules and policies
Work in machine shop unless required to work elsewhere
Keep breaks to no more than 2 per day
Keep breaks to 10 minutes
Abide by regulations: smoking, safety glasses, etc.
Do personal business on personal time breaks, lunch (ex. Phone calls, computers, etc.)
Order / ship materials, parts and supplies
Know who to contact and what to do to order materials and supplies for jobs
Know how to ship parts when done for second operations and to customers
Understand which forms to use and when and how to use them
Train others
Be able to instruct others about shop operations, equipment and procedures
Abilities Required:
Good manual dexterity

Apprentice program or equivalent experience

Requirements and Competencies:
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents. Ability to communicate effectively to team members and management.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts.
Educational Requirements:
High School Graduate or equivalent.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand: use hands to fingers, handle or feel: and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch: and talk and hear.
The job may involve prolong periods of sitting/standing.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May involve prolonged periods of magnified inspection (eye strain)
Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.
The employee is frequently required to use the computer.
Work Environment:
May involve the use of oils and solvents.
Subject to some soilage and irritation from cleaning solutions. (Lab Coats provided)
Generally works in a clean environment and works to maintain the environment as such.
Safety Glasses are required
May require area specific safety training
This position works in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne paper particles.
May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another, during the production process.
