Remer Lumber/ Cashier

The primary responsibilities of the Cashier/Sales Associate position are to maintain outstanding customer service, generate sales, merchandise product, and support the store management team. Cashier/Sales Associates are in charge of our customer-first philosophy and are essential in delivering the best customer shopping experience possible.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Greet customers by asking them the magic question – “What can I help you find today?”

2. Maintain awareness of all current advertisements and promotions.

3. Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards.

4. Participate in keeping appropriate stock levels in the store.

5. Help with truck deliveries, unloading product and organizing shelves.

6. Notice and respond to safety issues.

7. Be conscious of shoplifting activity. Know how to respond to shoplifters.

8. Aid customers in locating merchandising in store, on doitbest.com, as well as processing special orders.

9. Answer customers' questions and provide information on procedures and policies.

10. Tactfully and pleasantly deal with customers.

11. Accurately and efficiently ring on registers and maintain all cash at registers.

12. Maintain orderly appearance of register area and supplies stocked.

13. Issuing receipts, refunds, credits or change due to customers.

Qualifications

A. Education/Training: High School Degree, College preferred.

B. Must be able to operate efficiently learn and operate our point of sale/inventory system.

C. Must be able to lift, move and handle up to 60 pounds frequently to stock merchandise as well as load/unload customer orders.

D. Ability to stand/walk for an extended period of time.

E. Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.

F. Product knowledge of hardware related products.

G. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations.

H. Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks with high attention to detail.

I. Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays to meet the needs of the business.
