The Production Manager will manage and supervise all assembly operations and personnel to maximize throughput and quality during the manufacturing of our products. Plans for the capacity and resources needed to meet production schedule and customer requirements. This position is responsible for the leading and mentoring of the Production Manager’s direct reports. This position reports to the Director of Manufacturing.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Mentor and lead, shift supervisors, team leads, assembly support personnel and assemblers.

Responsible for managing and supervising 40+ employees in the assembly department.

Create and communicate team smart goals and assure they are met by the team.

Plan, execute and measure the assembly operations to meet production schedule. Establish priorities and sequences for production operations to ensure production capacity can meet promised delivery dates and that the quality of products meets specifications.

This position is responsible for collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering on the evaluation and recommendation of appropriate equipment and tools.

Work with Design Engineering on New Product Introductions to assure manufacturability.

Coordinate activities in the purchase, installation, training, and maintenance of tools, fixtures, and equipment that support production improvement and quality.

Actively manage the lean manufacturing, continuous improvement activities within your area of control. Report out on improvements.

Complete employee performance evaluations and develop individual training plans for each employee.

Develop and maintain metrics to measure the performance of the assembly lines. Communicate performance to the assemblers, leads and management to demonstrate continuous improvement successes.

Knowledge, Skills and abilities:

Experience evaluating and optimizing manufacturing processes and machinery

Knowledge of robotic automation, metal stamping, metal forming, welding, and painting processes

Experience leading continuous improvement projects focused on lean manufacturing principles

Experience using CAD, CAM, data analysis programs, and related software

Managing multiple projects of varying complexity

Strong organization and management skills

High level of technical expertise in high volume assembly lines, automation and Lean Manufacturing

Ability to collaborate with, mentor and lead co-workers to achieve our company goals

Requirements:

College degree or equivalent production management experience and technical know-how.

10+ years of manager and supervisor experience.

Knowledge and experience in assembly, testing, inspection, quality control and process improvement.

Lean manufacturing training and experience.

ISO knowledge and experience as internal auditor.
