Accounting Consultant 5 Job Title :Sr. SAP AccountantYou will be responsible for executing the vision and strategy related to Finance/Accounting of the SAP Financials implementation. The role includes:Working closely with assigned business areasReplacing existing reports produced from BEx workbooksUpdating/Creating queries in BEx workbooks with new AO queriesUpdating/Creating Manual Journal Entry Template in Excel Workbooks & Bex QueryPerform UAT testing for all accounting and controlling processes.The Sr. Accountant in this position will be an individual contributor working with a group of 3rd party consultants, Business partners and external service providers. -This role is with the General Ledger Transformation Team, which is part of the Controllers group in CFO office. The team is leading the charge to improve the efficiency and operations within the General Ledger area, primarily in SAP technologies. This is a newly formed team and thus provides ample growth opportunities in operations, support, and data analytics around financial data in the future. The role partners with Corporate IT, 3rd party Vendors and business users/leaders across Treasury, FP&A, Actuarial, Data Mgmt. etc.Accountability -
- Consult and support assigned teams of business area end users in adopting the new SAC and SAC AO reporting tools:
- Assist teams in evaluating their existing population of BEx queries and workbooks
- Assist teams in updating workbooks and processes with new AO queries
- Assist teams in identifying opportunities to optimize processes and reports in SAC
- Assist teams in ensuring their readiness to produce needed reports in the new tools for go-live
- Coordinate the build of new SAC reports where relevant
- Execute on the delivery of future state reports:
- Obtaining an understanding relevant fields and dimensions, e.g., determining how various departments and systems use those dimensions and how it flows to reporting
- Facilitating conversations and providing suggestions for future state - within the agreed principals and design decisions
- Providing solutions for mapping historical data into the target state design
- Providing suggestions of how master data and related dimensions can support business process enhancements
- Provides input to SAP project plan and detailed activities necessary to meet aggressive timelines.
- Provide meaningful project updates which include proposed solutions for addressing challenges when they arise as well as overall impact on the project
- Coordinate/collaborate across Finance, enterprise technology, internal audit, enterprise risk, other business units & external audit, as appropriate
- Understand how data flows through applicable admin and financial systems, planning appropriately for changes, proposing, and implementing enhancements.
- Establish & enhance governance and internal control procedures and maintain and consistently improve upon a strong control environment
- Support use case formulation
- Collaborate closely with other Controllers teams, such as the financial close team and external reporting to ensure master data supports accurate recognition of accounting for transactions and events
- Ability to multitask and shift focus among various dimensions, data sets and workstreams as information becomes available to drive progress.
- Provide configuration & tactical support to other peer teams such as SAP GL, SAP Data Analytics, SAP FPSL, SAP Treasury, SAP Profitability, SAP Reporting, and other Project team members
- Proficiency in MS Excel for macros, V/H-lookups, pivots using SAP BW BEx Workbooks
- At least 8 yrs. supporting Accounting Period close, reconciliation, trial balance, Top-side adjustments in an Accounting/Controllership on SAP ERP platform.
- At least 2 years working with Tier-1/Tier-2 Accounting or Audit advisories.
- Knowledge of US GAAP, insurance statutory accounting/reporting and/or experience in Financial Institutions highly preferred
- Experience in SAP modules such as FI, CO, AR, AP, GL, PA, PCA, CCA, Treasury as an End-User or SME
- Experience reporting from SAP BW/BEx workbooks is a must.
- Overall, 10-15 yrs. of expertise in Accounting/Book-keeping or Finance function
- Full life-cycle SAP S/4 HANA implementation with Universal Ledger as an Accountant
- Experience with at least 1 FP&A tool such as Alteryx, Hyperion/HFM, OneStream, Anaplan etc. preferred.
- Excellent written and communication skills to influence leaders at all levels
- Ability to work with management and influence decision making
- Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to adapt to change
- Experience working in a Finance transformational setting & driving change
- Use increasing insight to identify and implement improvements that increase the business value and efficiency of the work performed
- Ability to initiate and/or lead increasingly complex projects and continuous improvement activities that may span beyond the scope of own team
- Experience in best-in-class control execution/documentation
- Detail-oriented with demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in future
- Occasional travel to Boston and/or Springfield if required (less than 5%)
