Trigyn's direct government client has a long term need for Systems Engineer in Baltimore, MD.Description:The Systems Engineer maintains, administers and supports the department computer systems, operating systems and applications. The Systems Engineer is proficient in the troubleshooting, installation, configuration, operation, design, and maintenance of platforms, operating systems and applications in a windows and virtualized environment with responsibilities for delivering technology solutions and ensuring stability for the enterprise server environment. The Systems Engineer has technical expertise in automation through scripting to automate the business units technology and service offerings. The Systems Engineer interacts with other support, development and customer teams leveraging strong communication and interpersonal skills.Roles and Responsibilities: Participates in all aspects of the information technology and engineering planning, implementation and support. Monitors and manages all installed systems and infrastructure. Installs, configures, tests and maintains operating systems, application software and system management tools. Evaluates and recommends improvements to existing systems and support processes. Drives automation at every layer of the technology stack, with the goal of providing a mature, stable platforms for the entire enterprise via systems software development and scripting. Writes and maintains custom scripts to increase efficiency and lower the human intervention time required on various tasks. Oversees or assists with the oversight of new hardware requirements. Ensures proactively the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability. Monitors and tests application performance for potential bottlenecks, identifies possible solutions and works with developers to implement fixes. Plans and implements systems automation and workflows as required for better efficiency. Develops and maintains security, backup and redundancy strategies. Assists with the formulation and design of data security systems. Maintains and supervises the technology inventory. Conducts or participates in the evaluation of new technologies. Maintains numerous system logs and reports. Collaborates with other professionals to ensure high quality deliverables within organizational guidelines, policies and procedures. Excellent writing and oral communication skills. Strong organizational, interpersonal and governance skills. Strong listening skills. Ability to collaborate with professionals from other disciplines in the enterprise including project management, security, operations, asset management, customer service, etc. to resolve problems and manage projects. Strong conflict resolution, analytical and decision-making skills. Continuous awareness of information security requirements.Experience: At least five (7) years of operational support in a systems engineering and/or development capacity. Approximately five (5) years experience with Microsoft Windows 10 and Server 2016/2019. Approximately five (5) years experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Group Policy. Approximately five years (5) experience with enterprise hardware such as Cisco UCS and NetApp SAN storage. Approximately four (4) years experience with VMware. Approximately three (3) years experience with automation and scripting technologies such as PowerShell, Puppet, Foreman Chef, etc. Approximately three (3) years experience with cloud orchestration technologies such as vRA, UCSD, etc. Approximately three (3) years experience with monitoring solutions such as Nimbus, SCOM, Solar Winds, etc. Experience as a DevOps practitioner. Experience with Enterprise Antivirus/Malware protection software. Experience with Patch Management applications. Experience with Microsoft Office 365 support. Understanding of the ITIL framework.Education: Associate Degree and/or related Technical Degree required. Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in a Technology related discipline preferred. (Years experience may be considered as a substitute for a degree at the discretion of department).Certification:One or more of the following certifications is desirable: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. Cisco Certified Network Associate. CompTIA A+. Network +.
