RAS Automation Project Engineer, to be based in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana location. Reporting to the Manager of Motor and Control Systems, the Project Engineer is responsible for developing, designing, testing, and deploying electrical control systems for recirculating aquaculture facilities. Work with other engineers to define the specific operational parameters of the control system based on IO and equipment lists. Design PLC based control panels for in-house fabrication. Interface with electrical designers to produce CAD based drawing packages for panel fabrication and field installation. Generate cause and effect matrix based on control system narratives. Create PLC programs based on cause-and-effect matrix. Create HMI graphics for local operator interface to the system. Write operations, maintenance, and training manuals for the control system. Perform factory acceptance and customer acceptance testing of control system. Provide onsite startup and commissioning assistance after control system installation by others. Requirements of the RAS Automation Project Engineer:
    • B.S. in Electrical Engineering
    • 1+ years of industrial control system related experience preferred. New graduates required to have a minimum 3.2 GPA and related coursework
    • Familiar with industrial control panel drawing packages including panel layouts, power distribution, and IO loop sheets.
    • Familiar with using multimeters and 4-20ma signal generators to test and troubleshoot PLCs.
    • Familiar with PLC programming (CODESYS based languages or Rockwell Software)
    • Experience configuring Human Machine Interface (HMI) graphics (especially Rockwell FactoryTalk View SE or Ignition) a plus
    • Familiar with CAD drafting software.
    • Knowledge of and proficiency with Ethernet networks and devices, Modbus TCP and RTU, and common communications protocols (SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, RS-232)
    • Experience with field testing in remote locations.
    • Understanding of object-oriented programming languages (especially Python, Java, or C# a plus)
    • Must be self-motivated, self-directed with ability to work within a team setting or independently
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities of the RAS Automation Project Engineer:
    • Perform top-level system design decisions. Establish hardware requirements and ensure coherent flow-down of specifications and design concepts to lower-level assemblies.
    • Perform day-to-day electrical engineering activities including analysis, design, integration, and test. Identify issues early in the design process and initiate corrective action to maintain engineering success.
    • Provide guidance to electrical CAD designer during control panel design process.
    • Provide drawing markups on design packages during design iterations.
    • Provide final review and approval of drawing package for release to manufacturing.
    • Convert human readable control system functional description in process control narrative to specific control system tasks in the form of a cause-and-effect matrix.
    • Program PLC to accomplish cause-and-effect matrix tasks.
    • Create HMI graphics based on operator requirements described in process control narrative.
    • Create testing procedure for control panel(s) based on cause-effect-matrix, process narrative, and HMI functionality.
    • Perform functional test of fabricated control panels in manufacturing shop.
    • Perform customer acceptance test of fabricated control panels in manufacturing shop.
    • Travel to customer sites and perform final system startup and commissioning.
    • Provide R&D support to develop PLC programming and HMI graphics for new multiparameter sensors.
    • Assist in developing modularized control system components.
    • Assist in developing software and communication protocols for transmission of measurement data and control signals to/from the cloud.
