job summary:The Ruby Engineering Director is responsible for managing and supporting the techincal infrastructure and applications for our client and their clients. This includes support and management of vendor applications as well as applications developed and maintained internally. The Director will also act as a trainer, mentor and decision makes and will supervise the engineering divsion. This candidate is going to be working with a team of 5 Ruby Engineers. Required experience is 7-10 years of total development experience (Ruby or similar framework) with at least half of that being within the healthcare industry. Our client is also looking for someone who at least 2-3 years of management or lead experience. location: KANSAS CITY, Kansasjob type: Permanentsalary: $145,000 - 160,000 per yearwork hours: 8am to 4pmeducation: Bachelors responsibilities:- Serves as a representative for the development team to communicate job expectations, plan monitoring, and appraising job results. - Develops software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users, analyzing systems flow, data usage and work processes, investigating problem areas, and following the software development lifecycle. - Develops solutions beyond the scope of current projects and delegates additional work to the rest of the development team. Automates build and deployment of applications. - Ensures efficient, stable and secure delivery of systems solutions. - Maintains application performance by monitoring, analyzing and tuning systems. - Troubleshoots system hardware, software and operating/management systems. - Designs and runs system load/stress testing; escalating application problems to vendor. Defines database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up and recovery specifications; orchestrates ongoing server maintenance, version upgrades and key renewals. - Schedules support rotation for all in-house applications. - Conducts regular code reviews and paired programming sessions with other team members; creates and enforces development standards. - Completes projects by coordinating resources and timetables with the development team.
