Job Title: Network Service Engineer IIJob Location: Preferred local to Miami, FL / Dallas, TX (Open to remote for Central/Eastern time zone candidates)Job Duration: 12+ Months Contract (another year extension very much likely) Job Description:Duties:
- Responsible for network design and planning, capacity management, vendor evaluation, activation and deactivation of customer services, troubleshooting and fault resolution of reported and detected faults.
- Performs effective maintenance to the equipment to prevent faults from occurring; procurement and installation of equipment for expansion and new services.
- Knowledge of DWDM based transport solutions and concepts required.
- In depth knowledge of SONET and SDH is required
- Understand the Optical Network Architecture
- Working knowledge of 1, 10 and 100Gbps Ethernet, SONET, SDH and OTN switching.
- Familiarity with the operation of Data Centers, POP and ILA sites.
- Must be able to understand and operate various networking tools and databases.
- Ability to work under pressure with a diverse team.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Understand space requirements, demarcation points and AC/DC power.
- Understand Optical Switch Protection
- Must be able to understand and operate various networking tools and databases.
- Working knowledge of different fiber type is required
- Knowledge of switching technologies (802.1Q, STP, RSTP, PVST+) is plus
- DWDM/optical certification a plus.
- Familiarity of Cisco, Infinera gears and Ciena ROADMs, COADMs and Wave servers, including commissioning, troubleshooting and provisioning of new circuits and services.
