(US01) Location: Santa Barbara, CA Arthrex, Inc. is seekinga self-motivatedSr. Software Engineer II to lead research and implementation of Computer Vision development within our Synergy Suite. Ideal candidate is solution-oriented, manages ambiguity, and is confident in being a subject matter expert on a project. Qualified candidates have significant experience as a technical lead on a project related to image classification, object detection, image augmentation, and data preparation. Proficiency with Python and/or C required. Must have 8 years of relevant experience required. Bachelors degree or higherin Computer Science or related field highly preferred. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs, trains, and deploys computer vision models for real-time classification and object detection for Arthrexs Synergy Suite.
  • Analyzes and communicates model performance, tradeoffs, and risks, always championing product quality and safety
  • Partners with product and engineering leaders to guide technologies, strategies, and standards to advance the companys mission to help surgeons treat their patients better
  • Stays up to date on the latest research in computer vision and machine learning, driving internal R&D efforts, as needed.
  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment.
  • May supervise the activities of lower-level personnel and lead multiple projects.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field highly preferred. Masters degree or PhD preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience required including experience with machine learning algorithms and tools (e.g., TensorFlow), artificial intelligence, deep learning, and computer vision technologies.
  • Proven experience as a technical lead of a project required.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
  • Significant experience with image classification, object detection, image augmentation and data preparationrequired.
  • Software development with Python and/or C required.
  • Experience with embedded Linux systems strongly preferred. Medical device experience with image and/or video processing preferred.
  • Experience developing and supporting data processing pipelines for machine learning strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of professional software development best practices, including coding standards, source control management, CI/CD, and testing strongly preferred.
  • Ability to proactively communicate ideas, results, recommendations, and status effectively in oral and written forms required.
  • Ability to supervise contractors, and junior level engineers required.
Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills: Experience with medical equipment development and testing preferred.
