Job DetailsSummary:The main purpose of this job is to participate in customer research projects by preparing materials, executing planned experiments, and analyzing experimental data.Essential FunctionsParticipate in customer project teams to develop new and/or improved energy storage materials.Participate in teams working on company projects.Lead POCs (Proof of Concepts).Prepare research experiments including ordering input materials, synthesizing materials and assembling cells, test equipment and materials as required.Identify areas to improve projects.Meet deadlines.Perform non-routine experiments with Scientist input.Set up and validates new equipment or processes with Scientist input.Produce high quality error-free dataFollow documented procedures.Monitor the status of research experiments in progress, identifying unusual activity or results on a timely basis.Quickly identify and communicates issues and problems.Participate in discussions.Implement solutions with documentation.Manage experimental data files, reviewing for completeness and accuracy.Follow documented procedures.Meet deadlines.Pay attention to detail and reports inconsistencies.Analyze experimental data and draw appropriate conclusions and/or design follow-up experiments as required.Perform initial data analysis for Scientists.Rapidly scale up new energy storage materials from research quantities (grams) to customer sample quantities (kilograms), maintaining material properties and qualityFollow documented procedures.Perform scale-up experiments with Scientist guidance.Utilize analytical tools and equipment to characterize materials.Follow documented procedures.Perform appropriate maintenance.Report data as requested.Set up new equipment with guidance.Respect others in the workplace with a professional attitude; be considerate of others with housekeeping, shared equipment; provide a safe working environment for others.Communicate safety concerns of co-workers to management.Assume leadership in implementing solutions to safety and housekeeping issues.Set a standard for housekeeping.Treat co-workers with respect and consideration.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:Laboratory experience including excellent working knowledge of scientific protocol.Strong track record of individual scientific accomplishment.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Excellent problem-solving skills.Results-oriented with a strong sense of urgency and drive for closure.Ability to position, prioritize and execute multiple, competing demands and tasks concurrently.Experience with electrochemical material characterization.Experience with energy storage materials, particularly batteries preferred.Experience in a high throughput combinatorial chemistry laboratory preferred.Fluency in a language other than English preferred.Education & Experience:Master's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, physics or other relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.2+ years of relevant work experience working in laboratory on research and development projects.Interested in hearing more?
