Job DetailsThe candidate should be someone who has great communication skills and can adapt to different personalities and various jobsite conditionsA Bachelor's degree (preferably in Construction Management, Building Construction, or related field) or 1-3 years of position-related experienceStrong technical and administrative skills along with the ability to be organizedMulti-tasking skills and the ability to coordinate work on several facets of a projectSuperior written and verbal communication skillsStrong leadership abilities with the ability to coordinate work on multiple facets of a projectProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Microsoft Project, Sage 300, BlueBeam, and other project-related softwareAbility to read and understand blueprints/plans for multiple construction tradesAbility to identify deficient work and provide resolutionTeamwork - Balances team and individual responsibilities; Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views; Gives and welcomes feedback; contributes to building a positive team spirit; Puts success of team above own interests; Able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives; Supports everyone's efforts to succeedMontebello, CA 90640: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)ResponsibilitiesAs a Project Engineer at CEM Construction, you will have the opportunity to work on projects related to public works and residential constructionThe Project Engineer will be responsible for managing the construction day to day operation, reading plans and specifications for different trades performed in-house and the evaluation of submittals and RFI's to support construction activities and resolution of design and field issuesThe Project Engineer will assist the Project Manager with interacting with CEM Construction crew members, and subcontractors, to ensure quality and timely completion of the projectAbility to identify deficient work and provide resolutionDevelop any RFI from preliminary study of project plans and specificationCreation of RFI documents through the project as needed and Create and maintain RFI document logPrepare submittals for all itemsProcure long lead itemsPerform quantity take-off for each trade and phaseDevelop project schedule and sequenceDevelop working drawings with dimensions and layout of projectCreate work force break down for each trade/task based on project schedule (team/trucks/machines/tools)Acquire and manage all building permits, notifications (Dig USA, neighborhood notifications, ect.) and other regulatory prerequisitesPrepare change order scope of work, change order documentation and associated cost reporting and maintenancePrepare 2-weeks look ahead - schedule and maintain updated through the project spanWork closely with project manager; discuss project updates, schedule, RFI's, change order, team work force and all project related phasesCoordinate with project manager and vendors for material order and deliveriesOrder materials and schedule inspections as necessary throughout the processOpening the jobsite at beginning of the day and securing the jobsite at the end of the dayPerform weekly safety meeting with crews out in fieldPromote and ensure job site safety, encourage safe work practices and rectify job site hazardsSet up and maintain an organized job siteDirect all CEM Construction personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, and with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specificationsDirect and Assigning scope of work for CEM Construction work crewProvide them task and guidance on complete taskProject cost review, reporting, updating and accountingCreate and maintain project meeting minutes and daily logsResearch and suggest options on construction means, methods and equipmentPerform all other related duties as assignedInterested in hearing more?
