Hospice of Santa Barbara, Inc., the second oldest Hospice in the United States, is a unique and innovative organization that serves more than six hundred children and adults monthly who are either facing a life-threatening illness or grieving the loss of a loved one. ABOUT THE POSITION:
This is a dynamic position that focuses upon the ongoing promotion, marketing, growth and sustainability of the Business Initiatives (BI) operated at Hospice of Santa Barbara (HSB). This position regularly interfaces with external stakeholders and community organizations, in an effort to advance HSB's unique educational and clinical programs. Supports HSB’s administered programs by establishing and strengthening relationships with traditionally underserved communities including English Learners, families, educators, local school districts, educational partners, and businesses. Promotes HSB at various community events, meetings, and other local opportunities to increase awareness and encourage partnerships. Marketing, communication, relationship building, organizational and project management skills are required. This position is required to be bilingual.
The mission of the position is to serve as an ambassador for HSB in cultivating and maintaining community partnerships that will continue to drive HSB’s mission forward. Essential duties are as follows:
Project Mangement
Establish new and ongoing relationships with community partners to further BI outcomes
Complete a variety of administrative tasks
Assist in the project management and ongoing maintenance of programs, services, service locations, etc. This includes maintenance of relevant partner information, project plans and outcomes
Assist in the development of communication plans and informational materials, talking points, presentation, and curricula
Maintain organized records of any associated expenses for BI maintenance
Work alongside HSB’s Development team to achieve established fundraising goals for specific initiatives
Gather and prepare data for ongoing project evaluation alongside Community Initiatives Manager
Draft and submit deliverables (monthly and quarterly reports) as needed
Community Engagement
Participate in community events to further HSBs initiative goals. This includes searching for opportunities and preparing material as needed. Translation of documents may be required
Integrate into established partner networks to strengthen community relationships i.e. LEON, Carp Connect, Chamber events
Marketing & Development
Support HSB’s Development team to develop appropriate marketing; communications activities for emerging initiatives, materials for various publications and other marketing/communication events & activities
Serve as an extension of HSB’s Development team where appropriate – event coordination, translation, brainstorm, connections to bilingual community leaders, etc.
Conduct specific initiative website and Facebook management as needed
Other duties as assigned
Assist Patient Care Services team as a bilingual support staff on an as needed basis
Ability to travel locally
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Communications (preferred), Marketing (preferred), Education, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or other related field
At least 3 years of experience in coordinating and organizing community outreach activities, preferably related to health issues/End of Life
Bilingual in Spanish demonstrating fluent conversation abilities and writing skills. These must be sufficient to relate to English Learner, immigrant and refugee communities
Communications including speaking and writing clearly, meaningfully and inclusively; and ability to translate program information into meaningful and easily understood application
Human relations skills sufficient to work with all types of audiences, both internal/external stakeholders
Experience in coordinating and organizing events, partnership building, networking with agencies and organizations, and community outreach
Experience in community engagement, information dissemination and development of informational materials, presentations, and curricula
Experience in data gathering, interpretation and evaluation
Strong interpersonal and group presentation communications skills and writing skills
Knowledge and experience using social media tools for information dissemination
Project management experience including project start-up
Must be a highly-motivated, self-starter that is capable of managing multiple/varied tasks and working under limited supervision
Ability to learn new concepts and teach them to others
Experience managing volunteers is preferred but not required
Must be fluent and comfortable using Excel and Google drive programs
It is highly preferred that this experience be within the realm of human services and/or education services
Non-profit experience is preferred but not required
